Carol Purroy's STRAW INTO GOLD writing workshops nurture and cultivate writers, from beginners to professionals,
and non-writers, too.
Carol creates a caring environment in which to spin your "straw"; into gold. You'll come to perceive your life experiences
-- even the worst ones -- as your personal literary treasure trove.
You'll learn to silence your internal critic so you can write from your heart , in your own way, telling
your own stories. This workshop, in which writing is the means, is not about the nuts-and-bolts of writing. It's about
being real and freeing yourself to write.
In the unconditionally accepting atmosphere of a SIERRA NEVADA WRITING WORKSHOP you'll find that you're free to take the risks
that will allow you to rediscover your true self -- your essential self -- and share it with others.
In Carol's workshops participants quickly find their own voices and "speak" their truth. Their writing is transformed -- and
so are they! She has watched it happen again and again, even among people who think they can't write ... OR speak their truth.
You'll leave the workshop elated, with newfound self-esteem and pride in the knowledge that you're in a class by yourself,
and ain't that grand!
* Small intimate groups; individual attention.
* 1-week workshop: Monday Thru Friday - 9 am - 12:30 pm.
* Participants sign confidentiality pledges. * WHAT HAPPENS HERE STAYS HERE!
As human beings above the age of 5, we are all wounded. As writers, our wounds are our greatest assets. Our bad experiences,
which are solely our property, are our area of expertise.
At this workshop, we practice the ancient art of alchemy. We learn to magically transform our emotional bombshells into
literary blessings. For example:
* Evil can alchemize into Psychological Thriller
* Danger into Adventure
* Intrigue into Detective Fiction
* Deception & Betrayal into Soap Opera
* Sinister Crime into Mystery
* Guilt into Humor (or Family Drama!)
* Dementia into Science Fiction
* Torture & Abuse into Horror
* Yearning into Romance
OR ANYTHING YOU WANT TO TRANSFORM YOUR "STRAW" INTO.
Writing about the "straw" in our lives is clearly therapeutic.
According to the Journal of American Medicine, 1999, a study found that people who wrote about their most traumatic life
experiences for 20 minutes a day, three days in a row, often gained relief from chronic asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, and
other diseases. It also said that those who did so were in better health four months later than those who did not.
Just imagine what this workshop will do for you!
